AC-IDD-10 Create and dimension single view drawings while applying geometric construction.
AC-IDD-11 Utilize orthographic projection to create and dimension multi-view drawings manually and using CADD.
We wil be learning how to use Autodesk Inventor as a 3D Modeling CADD tool to create single view and Multiview drawings with dimensions.
In class as a group, we will draw the 6 objects that we worked with in hand drafting and AutoCAD. I will have hand outs printed out in class if needed.
1. You will create a 3D digital model using Inventor and then generate a Multiview drawing of each of the 6 objects.
2. Drawings include front, top and right view as well as an isometric shaded pictorial in the upper right corner.
3. Drawings must have a border and titleblock with your updated information.
4. Views must have dimensions - but remember only dimension what is needed not every view.
5. Submit each drawing as an exported PDF or JPG file to the google classroom.
Individually or in teams, choose to create one of the following projects:
Goal: use your lasercutting, AutoCAD and paper model/keychain making skills to create a design, and in a team, figure out/problem solve how you are going to make it.
1. Laser cut marble machine "run" or game with moving parts (metal ball bearings available to use)
-Design, lasercut and construct a cardboard or wooden machine run for a marble or metal ball bearing or game with moving parts ( pinball, etc.)
-Create 3 free hand sketches/ideas and research examples online
-Choose one idea to develop in CAD
-Create lasercut tool path files
-Determine materials and amount required- cardboard, paper or wood thickness, size, quantity ---locate online and complete purchase order information.
-Submit material request.
-Construct your project.

-Create a PPT of your project - include, photos, drawings with dimensions and, description
2. Landscape Shadow Box
-Design, lasercut and construct a cardboard, paper or wooden shadow box.
-Research examples online - create your own design inspired by nature, sports, cityscapes, etc.
-create your design in CAD of at least 6 landscape "slides"
-create lasercut tool path files of your design
-determine materials and amount of material required- wood, cardboard or paper thickness, size, quantity --locate online and complete attached purchase order information.
-Submit material request
-Start construction of your project.

-Create a PPT of your project - include photos, drawings with dimensions, and description.

Students completed multiviewing drawing by hand with drafting tools and on the computer using AutoCAD last week.
Students are now using their basic AutoCAD skills to design keychains and paper objects to cut out using the lasercutter/engraver. An example of a paper birdhouse design with a photo of the constructed model.
We will begin learning about the drafting tools we have in class and how to use them. Handouts and PPT posted on the google classroom. Students will complete a worksheet on the drafting tools and see a demonstration on how each tool is used.
AC-IDD-4 Demonstrate the correct use and management of all drafting tools and supplies. 4.1 Identify and demonstrate the correct operation and maintenance of manual drafting equipment.
4.2 Use correct lead selection to produce drawings.
4.3 Identify and use the proper type of media.
4.4 Promote responsible use of drafting supplies.
We will be finishing up career poster presentations today and then moving on to classroom safety. Students will watch a PPT from CTAE regarding Drafting Lab Safety, complete answers on handout, and perform a safety self-audit check of our classroom.
AC-IDD-3 Demonstrate the knowledge and skills to properly use the tools and equipment safely in the drafting lab.
3.1 Maintain workstation and storage area.
3.2 Demonstrate and incorporate proper use of ergonomics in the drawing lab.
3.3 Follow class and lab rules.
In teams or individually, design a drafting related career poster. Choose a career from the list in class today (Wednesday). Assignment details are posted on the google classroom. We will discuss how to layout and design a poster using PowerPoint in class on Thursday.

We will be discussing the design process and have a tower building competition for the next two days. Tallest tower will be determined end of class Tuesday. Assignment details and model making videos on the google classroom.
