Foundation of house, interior walls, stairs and floor trusses at 3/4" = 1'-0". Team 2 - Tiny House on Trailer. Beginning stages of the trailer made out of aluminum with custom 3D printed connector pieces.
Block 2: Group 1 - As a team, draw floor plans, elevations, roof plan, wall section and foundation plan of house P. 407 Use drawings to construct scale model of house: Build foundation - 3/4" = 1'-0" -gatorboard Build trusses and stairs- lasercutter Assemble exterior and interior walls with framed door and window openings Assemble roof trusses Group 2 - Tiny House Design - As a team - design a tiny house on a trailer. Research precedents/examples of tiny houses, create revit model, appliance/equipment and finish schedules, interior and exterior elevations, plans, and construct scale model. Block 3
Use class set of house plans. As a team, recreate scaled elevations and plans of house. Use drawings to construct scale model: 1/2"=1'-0" Research building construction - See class textbook Assemble exterior and interior walls with framed door and window openings Assemble roof trusses Chapter 10 of Architecture Book - Plot Plans
Students are using Cobb County GIS to research their house/apartment property and obtain site information including contours lines. Students will use the GIS information to create a plot/site plan in AutoCAD and build a 1/32" = 1'-0 scale site model of their property. Due Monday, October 9th Hand drafted ground floor plan of the ranch house on p. 407 due today. We begin drawing the plan in AutoCAD tomorrow. After the break we will begin foundation plans, site plans, roof plans, framing plans and exterior elevations.
Use the portfolio template in google drive to set up your ongoing portfolio for this semester. You may add other projects from previous semesters, as well. You are responsible for updating these portfolios after each project. Link to Helpful tips on making an Architecture Portfolio:
Students created projects by hand or with CAD and Lasercutter/engraver to demonstrate their understanding of the elements and principles of design. They then transformed 4 of their selected elements and principles into 3D forms and small scale structures. Now that we have been introduced to Adobe CS6, we have been asked to update the school site and floor plans for the Cobb County Fire Department.
In teams we will color code the hallways, roads, vertical circulation/stairs, and different buildings in order to create a book for the Fire Department to use in case of an emergency. CAD Symbols - Fire hydrants, door hatches, etc. will be discussed. |
