Articles and handouts posted on the google classroom. We finally finished the famous houses unit! 24 x 24 poster printed with CAD drawings and house/architect bio ready for presentation. Physical models being finalized. AC-ADDI-3 Demonstrate architectural drafting skills. AC-ADDI-4 Prepare residential floor plans. AC-ADDI-6 Prepare elevations for residential drawings. Continue working on scale models from your CAD elevations, plans and sections of your famous house. Wednesday, those of you who are finished will begin discussing foundations and roof plans. AC-ADDI-5 Research roof systems, styles and terminology. AC-ADDI-8 Demonstrate preparing foundation plans. Gingerbread house team: finalize presentation posters of FLW and Falling Water. Consult with engineering regarding electrical components of the gingerbread house. Prepare/repair the base for gingerbread construction. Students have finished their floor plans, sections, elevations and site plans for their famous houses in CAD. They are now figuring out materials and creating lasercutter files in order to construct scale models.
The Gingerbread team has created a scale model of Falling Water - a home designed by Frank Lloyd Wright outside of Pittsburgh, PA. They are in the process of cutting out templates of their design for culinary to use in the baking and preparing of gingerbread. Together they will then build the house out of gingerbread. Students are continuing to work on their CAD drawings and preparing files to lasercut study models of their buildings. Students will select a famous residential or commercial building and recreate site plan, elevations, sections and floor plans using CAD. Students will also gather biographical information about the architect, their career and educational background. Presentation board will include: architect bio info. drawings, project photos and diagrammatic analysis of the project.
Generate north, south, east and west elevations as well as a roof plan from your crazy structure. You may photograph and upload the image into CAD to trace. We will be reviewing scale and how to layout your drawings on a sheet. We will have an introduction to floor plans, site plans and sections using the crazy structure as a starting point. Finalize by Monday.
Focusing on space and form, design and construct a crazy structure. We are focusing on hand building model making skills today. Assignment details, design process and model making video links on google classroom. Include scale figure for reference. Internet images below. Focus on residential type spaces. |
